The original Kimbo fight, which took place in Leonard Byrd's Miami backyard, hit the internet in 2004. This was the beginning of Kimbo's stardom, but little was actually explained; Kimbo hadn't yet been named (the spectators can be heard yelling, "Get 'em Ferg!", "Ferg" being short for Ferguson), and the video was seen only as another street fight caught on tape, although arguably more brutal than the average internet fight video.
The fight begins with Kimbo landing a punch that dazes Byrd. Kimbo throws Byrd down and then allows Byrd to hit him three times with no effect. Kimbo throws a massive left that knocks him down and damages his eye. Byrd tells Kimbo to chill and Kimbo finally leaves saying that Byrd quit, ending the fight. Due to the notorious damage to Byrd's eye, and the catchy "All day, all day" and "That's how a nigga eat" quotes, the fight commanded mass internet attention and controversy.
